THE SEASONS OF MARRIAGE

Whether a couple is facing challenging situations or struggling with the purpose of their marriage, this enduring season truly shakes the husband and wife relationship. It could be a time of heavy blame, justification, and rationalization. On the other hand, it could also represent an opportunity to finally hear God’s call—a call to incorporate Jesus Christ into your life, your spouse’s life, and your marriage.

' “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”' (Matthew 11:28-30)

'Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. ' (John 14:6)

The couple’s acceptance of the Gospel’s message and their decision to anchor their marriage in Jesus Christ mark the beginning of a new journey. It’s not an easy transition to live a life recognizing and obeying God’s authority; it certainly requires a process. This process includes the couple’s continuous encouragement to be transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ and their commitment to anchor their marriage in Him. This involves replacing old perspectives and worldly standards with God’s truths and learning from Christ’s example, as well as the influence of the Holy Spirit.

'He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, ' (Titus 3:5)

'But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. ' (John 14:26)

The reality that Christianity is not about perfection but an authentic journey with Jesus Christ is demonstrated by couples who continue to share the goodness of God. Even when facing challenges or going through a transformation process toward Christlikeness, these instances become opportunities to encounter God’s presence. They turn difficult moments into God’s blessings as couples recognize His hand at work in their lives and relationships. Moreover, these experiences have become breakthroughs that encourage others, affirming the truth that Jesus Christ is alive and continuously transforming lives and marriages. The marriage has now become a missional relationship united under Christ and submitting to His will and purpose. 

'And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. ' (Luke 9:23)

'And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”' (Matthew 28:18-20)
